Alberta Energy Minister Marg McCuaig-Boyd Visits Hifi
Hifi was honoured to demonstrate its High Fidelity Dynamic Sensing (HDS) pipeline leak detection system to Alberta Energy Minister Marg McCuaig-Boyd at the GE Innovation Center in Calgary, Alberta.
“It was great to see the demonstration of Hifi’s HDS technology,” said Minister McCuaig-Boyd. “I am encouraged to see a “Made in Alberta” technology aimed at achieving 100% safety in the pipeline industry.
” The demonstration showcased how Hifi’s fiber optic sensing technology enables continuous, real-time monitoring of pipelines by capturing acoustic, temperature, strain, and vibration data. This approach allows operators to detect leaks and other events with high accuracy while reducing false positives.
Hifi’s technology is designed to support safer pipeline operations by providing earlier detection and improved visibility across infrastructure. The visit highlights the role of Alberta-based innovation in advancing next-generation monitoring solutions for the energy industry.
The demonstration also provided an opportunity to highlight how these technologies are evolving to meet the changing needs of the energy sector. Continued engagement between industry leaders and government supports the development and adoption of advanced monitoring solutions.
These interactions also help reinforce the importance of collaboration in driving innovation and ensuring that advanced sensing technologies continue to support the performance and reliability of critical energy infrastructure.
