Excellence in Best Practices for the Fiber Optic Sensing Industry

CALGARY, Alberta, March 3rd , 2021 — Hifi Engineering Inc. (“Hifi”), a developer and supplier of next-generation fiber optic sensing technology used to monitor assets including pipelines and oil and gas wells, today announced the company has received the Technology Innovation Leadership Award from Frost & Sullivan for excellence in the fiber optic sensing industry.

Frost & Sullivan conducted a rigorous analytical process to evaluate multiple nominees for each of their award categories.  The process found that Hifi excelled in many of the criteria in the fiber optic sensing technology market.  Hifi designed its technology to identify variations in underground sound, vibration/strain, and temperature and has adopted unique machine learning software algorithms that process many terabytes of raw data per day produced by pipeline operations. Besides its fiber optic sensing systems, Hifi has a dedicated significant investment in enhancing its software algorithms both internally through a team of highly skilled system engineers and research partnerships with top universities in North America and Europe. Frost & Sullivan recognizes how Hifi possesses higher fidelity, better performance, and a higher signal to noise ratio than its competitors, and how ongoing application development of its high fidelity technology can be used for liquids, gas, multiphase, slurry pipelines, waste water, potable water, and other linear asset monitoring.

“Frost & Sullivan finds that Hifi’s technology plays a pivotal role in maintaining pipeline health. Its real‐time distributed monitoring platform equips the pipeline operator with critical data that identifies the exact location of a leak in a pipeline that runs hundreds of kilometers in distance,” says Samantha Fisher, Best Practices Research Analyst for Frost & Sullivan.  “Hifi’s visibility, strategic diversity, and technical expertise position the company well for high growth in the near future, and to disrupt the market on a foundational and global level.”

“Hifi is very proud to have been recognized by Frost & Sullivan as a technology innovation leader with our high fidelity distributed sensing optical platform,” said Steven Koles, President and CEO of Hifi.  “As Hifi expands into other industries, we will continue to develop a diversity in our applications that leverage our deep experience with different pipes and product types.”
