CAPP President, Tim McMillan, Visits Hifi
Hifi was honoured to demonstrate its High Fidelity Dynamic Sensing technology to Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers President Tim McMillan at the GE Innovation Center in Calgary.
During the visit, Hifi presented how its fiber optic sensing platform provides continuous visibility across pipeline infrastructure. The system gathers detailed information along the pipeline by measuring changes in sound, temperature, strain, and vibration, allowing operators to better understand evolving conditions across their assets.
The demonstration focused on how this approach supports improved operational awareness and more effective management of pipeline systems over time. By offering continuous coverage rather than relying on isolated monitoring locations, the technology enables a more complete picture of activity along the pipeline and helps identify patterns that may require attention.
“Canada’s oil and gas sector has demonstrated we are second to none, in our ability to constantly innovate to improve the environmental, health and safety systems for the responsible development of our resources,” said McMillan. “Preventative leak detection for pipelines is a critical area where we are seeing constant improvement and this Made in Canada solution will help the industry achieve our objective of safe and reliable transportation of our products.”
The visit highlighted the role of Canadian innovation in supporting the continued advancement of pipeline monitoring and infrastructure performance.
