Hifi Wins FOSA Project & Innovation Award

WASHINGTON DC – December, 2021 – Hifi was recognized by the Fiber Optic Sensing Association (FOSA) as a recipient of its 2021 Innovation and Project Awards. The award highlights Hifi’s contribution to advancing fiber optic sensing solutions for pipeline monitoring and safety. As part of this recognition, Hifi’s work on the Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP) was highlighted as a major industry milestone. The project involves the deployment of high fidelity distributed sensing (HDS) technology alongside one of Canada’s largest pipeline infrastructure expansions. The system provides continuous fiber optic monitoring across both existing and newly constructed pipelines, enabling detection of leaks, integrity risks, and other events along the right‑of‑way. The combined monitoring system represents one of the longest fully distributed fiber optic sensing deployments on a pipeline, demonstrating the scalability of Hifi’s technology in real-world applications. By integrating advanced sensing, machine learning, and networked infrastructure, Hifi’s HDS platform supports improved safety, operational visibility, and early detection capabilities for operators.
