Accountant

At Hifi Engineering Inc. we build world-class fibre optic sensing and monitoring technology for wellbores, pipelines, and critical infrastructure. Hifi is looking for a Junior Accountant who will take on the day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities, as well as prime on other financial projects.

Specific job duties include:

• Posting and processing journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
• Updating accounts receivable and issuing invoices
• Updating accounts payable and performing reconciliations
• Assisting in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines
• Processing expense account claims
• Assisting with payroll,  bank records, etc. as assigned
• Updating financial data in databases to ensure that information will be secure, accurate and immediately available when needed
• Preparing and submitting weekly/monthly reports
• Assisting Finance Manager in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings
• Assisting with annual audit
• Assisting with other accounting / finance projects

Required proficiencies:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum 2 years working experience in Accounting / Finance
• CPA track qualification a plus but not required
• Good with numbers and figures with strong analytical acumen, as well as great attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid organizational skills including attention to deadlines
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Quickbooks
